running on empty

April 26, 2010

today’s flickr blog features a gallery curated by greenkozi. “running on empty” is a beautiful, strangely fascinating, photographic collection of petrol stations, those beacons of light along the long lonely interstate highways that get us to where we’re heading, often when the roads are empty and the world is sleeping.

who wears short shorts?

April 25, 2010

[ssrg bout#2, brisbane | 24 april, 2010]

the gals from the sun state roller girls held their second bout for the season last weekend, with the liquorice short shorts taking on the golden roughs again.
have I mentioned how much I love roller derby? you may be interested to know that B may be just as big a fan as me when it comes to derby, as evident from the photo above. see him there right up front looking up at me in his suicide seat? (he was keen to get there early to get good seats!)

+ more photos from the bout can be seen here [x]

[ssrg bout#1, brisbane | 13 march, 2010]

+you can view all the photos from the first bout of 2010 here.
+if you live in the brisbane area you can come along to the second bout in april. it’s loads of fun to watch.

my first bout

March 16, 2010

[ssrg bout#1, brisbane | 13 march, 2010]

i went to my first roller derby bout on the weekend and i must say, i think i am just that little bit more obsessed with all things derby after that night. although i’m only newbie freshmeat it makes me all the more determined to get my fitness up and work hard at training. i can’t wait to experience my very first bout one day, not from the sidelines, but in among the action in the pack.

week 6

March 15, 2010

[elizabeth street, brisbane | feb, 2010]

have i mentioned how happy i am to be studying again? it’s week 6 already and i think i’ve finally fallen into a comfortable routine. work, study, study, work. start again. rinse, repeat.
i guess it makes all the difference to be doing what you love, right?
