B6
October 25, 2010

Last friday night I was sent to shoot chinese DJ B6, as part of the UpLate series at the Gallery of Modern Art. This was a little bit of a different experience for me. I’ve only just been getting accustomed to turning up to a gig in my comfy shoes and clothes, preparing myself for beer being flung at me, moshers smashing into me and the occasional abuse being hurled in my direction. Along with loud, LOUD music. It was a pleasant change to get dressed up, bring along a good friend and get some shots while casually enjoying some music and the exhibition of Valentino gowns that was on show. I only wish I could have also photographed some of the beautiful outfits but I guess you can’t win ‘em all!

finders keepers brisbane
November 4, 2009
finders keepers finally came to brisbane! last weekend was spent exploring the wares of some mighty fine designers, artists and generally creative folk. the plan was to go and have a peek at all the lovely things (and not spend too much) but in the end I ended up coming home with a few purchases of my own. i even took my mum again on sunday so she could get some christmas gifts for friends! some of my lovely finds were from the awesome shelbyville, some cards from the super talented courtney brims (owls! foxes! squirrels!), a beautiful necklace of vintage birds in glass and a stag trophy head brooch from beau & trouble.
it was such an inspiring event. makes me want go create things!

waiting for the dust to settle

I think I will be cleaning dust from every corner of my house for a while to come still. I’m amazed at the places that it is turning up! In my drawers? In the cupboard? Our house was tightly locked up on the day of the storm but it seems that the dust was of the sneaky variety, being a mastermind at slipping through the cracks (so to speak).
I can still taste the dust in my mouth and throat.
