my first bout

i went to my first roller derby bout on the weekend and i must say, i think i am just that little bit more obsessed with all things derby after that night. although i’m only newbie freshmeat it makes me all the more determined to get my fitness up and work hard at training. i can’t wait to experience my very first bout one day, not from the sidelines, but in among the action in the pack.

My pics weren’t too flash. It was my first time doing sports photography & I had all the wrong lenses…

It was very cool indeed. My photos weren’t that great, settings were all over the place but I posted them up on facebook anyway, will post them on flickr soon.
What lens did you have with you? I only bought my telephoto, would have liked to take the wide angle and did what you did, take panorama photos..oh well next time if I feel like taking 100kgs worth of gear, my shoulders already hate me.

I had the 10-22 which was pretty cool but also tried to use my 50mm 1.4 (cause it was fast) but it was more a pain than anything. I ended up just using a 17-85 and bumping up the iso. I’m going to try and hire a 70-200 2.8 for next time and get a better spot earlier on in the suicide seats. I’m way too short to try and move around too much hehe
